Classic Mickey Mouse Panel Knitting Pattern
Knit something charming and full of character with this Classic Mickey Mouse Panel Knitting Pattern, featuring the classic full-body silhouette of the world’s most famous mouse from Disney. This textured design shows Mickey Mouse standing in his timeless, upright pose, with his big round ears, rounded body, slim arms, and oversized shoes all instantly recognizable in clean profile. The motif is built entirely from the interplay of knit and purl stitches, so the silhouette emerges through texture and stitch definition rather than color changes. The sample is shown in a soft sage green, and the design works in any single solid shade.
This knit and purl pattern has been carefully designed and written by HitsKnits. Each pattern is created manually, without the use of AI (artificial intelligence), ensuring a natural design process, thoughtful construction, and careful attention to every detail. Language: English.
This knitting project is worked entirely in a single solid color, one-color yarn, allowing the classic Mickey Mouse silhouette to appear through texture alone. The panel features a garter stitch border and a smooth stockinette background, while the design is formed using a combination of knit and purl stitches to create a raised, sculptural effect without any colorwork, intarsia, or cables. The contrast between the knit and purl textures defines his ears, body, and feet, so the character stands out in elegant relief.
Because it is worked as a single textured panel, this classic Mickey Mouse panel is versatile. The finished piece can be sewn into a larger blanket or throw as a feature panel, made up into a cushion or pillow front, turned into the front of a roomy tote or project bag, used as a table mat, a placemat-style mat, or a table centre piece, or mounted as a nursery or playroom wall hanging. It also works as a seat pad, a small mat, or framed textile art. Worked in one solid shade, the textured motif keeps a timeless, graphic look that showcases the beauty of stitch definition and textured knitting, and it coordinates easily with any décor.
Because the finished size depends on your yarn choice, the same panel suits different projects. Around 45 x 45 cm in sport weight, it makes a cushion or pillow front or a small insert; around 55 x 55 cm in DK or worsted weight, it works as a wall hanging or a tote front; and around 63 x 63 cm in aran weight, it makes a larger wall hanging or a feature panel set into a blanket.
This classic Mickey Mouse panel is written with clear row-by-row instructions only, there is no chart. Every row tells you exactly which stitches to knit and which to purl, so you simply follow each line in order. The textured silhouette appears gradually as you work, giving a relaxing and rewarding knitting experience. Stitch markers can help keep the design aligned and maintain the shape of the character throughout the project.
This is a beginner-friendly Classic Mickey Mouse Panel Knitting Pattern. It requires no charts, no colorwork, and no advanced stitches, just careful attention to knits and purls and accurate stitch counting to keep the silhouette clear. The format is easy to follow and ideal for anyone who enjoys meditative, structured knitting.
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
The final size of the panel will depend on the yarn and needle size you choose. Here are examples for three different yarn weights:
Sport weight (5 ply) with 3.5 mm (US 4) needles:
45 × 45 cm (18″ × 18″), approx. 187 g
A cushion or pillow front, a bag panel, a table mat or placemat, or a decorative cloth.
DK (8 ply) or worsted weight (8 ply) with 3.75 mm to 4 mm (US 5 to 7) needles (sample shown):
55 × 55 cm (21″ × 21″), approx. 200 to 250 g
A wall hanging, a tote front, or a feature panel, a seat pad or chair cushion, or a cover draped over an armchair or chair back. As room or kitchen décor it works as a framed wall panel, a table centre piece, or a shelf or sideboard topper.
Aran weight (10 ply) with 5.5 mm (US 9) needles:
63 × 63 cm (25″ × 25″), approx. 357 g
A small pram or stroller blanket for a newborn.
MATERIALS NEEDED
I used DK weight (8 ply) yarn, 200 g of YarnArt Creative, 100% cotton, 50 g ≈ 85 m / 1.8 oz ≈ 93 yds
Knitting needles: 3.75 mm (US 5)
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
If you want to match the sample size, use DK yarn with a similar gauge and texture. However, you are free to use any yarn you like. This project is highly adaptable, just choose suitable needles for your yarn and enjoy the process.
GAUGE
22 stitches × 32 rows = 10 × 10 cm (4″ × 4″) in sport 5-ply yarn
18 stitches × 26 rows = 10 × 10 cm (4″ × 4″) in DK or worsted 8-ply
16 stitches × 23 rows = 10 × 10 cm (4″ × 4″) in aran 10-ply yarn
PANEL SIZE
Panel size: 100 stitches x 146 rows. Worked flat in one piece with written row-by-row instructions only, no chart.
WORK SEQUENCE
The project begins with a garter stitch border, followed by a central stockinette section where the motif is created by working reverse stockinette stitches according to the written instructions.
