Tigger Blanket Knitting Pattern
Knit something full of energy and character with this Tigger Blanket Knitting Pattern, featuring the cheerful and unforgettable Tigger from Disney’s Winnie the Pooh. Inspired by the beloved bouncing tiger character, this design captures Tigger standing tall with his signature striped tail curled around him. With a wide smile, bright expression, and playful pose, this famous Hundred Acre Wood friend brings a sense of fun and adventure to every stitch.
Each pattern is created manually, without the use of AI (artificial intelligence), ensuring a natural design process, thoughtful construction, and careful attention to every detail.
This knitting project is suitable for knitters who enjoy creating pictures and characters through texture alone. The blanket features a garter stitch border and a smooth stockinette background, while the Tigger motif is formed using a combination of knit and purl stitches to create a striking raised design without colorwork or cables.
The contrast between knit and purl textures allows Tigger’s distinctive features, including his rounded ears, expressive face, striped body, and springy tail, to stand out clearly against the background. The result is an elegant textured blanket that celebrates one of Winnie the Pooh’s most energetic and lovable characters.
Clear row-by-row instructions guide you through every step, making it easy to create a cozy baby blanket, nursery accessory, decorative throw, wall hanging, or thoughtful handmade gift.
This pattern offers a relaxing and rewarding knitting experience, with the textured motif gradually appearing as you work. Stitch markers can be helpful for keeping the design aligned and maintaining the shape of the character throughout the project.
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
The final size of the project will depend on the yarn and needle size you choose. Here are examples for three different yarn weights:
Sport weight (5 ply) with 3.5 mm (US 4) needles:
80 × 100 cm (33″ × 40″), approx. 700 g
Best for babies and young toddlers, perfect as a crib blanket, stroller blanket, or for everyday use.
DK (8 ply) or worsted weight (8 ply) with 3.75 mm to 4 mm (US 5 to 7) needles (sample shown):
100 × 120 cm (40″ × 47″), approx. 800 to 850 g
Ideal for toddlers and young children, great for naps, playtime, or as a cozy all-around blanket.
Aran weight (10 ply) with 5.5 mm (US 9) needles:
115 × 140 cm (45″ × 55″), approx. 1400 to 1500 g
Larger size suitable for older children, works well as a warm blanket for bed, lounging, or as a decorative throw.
MATERIALS NEEDED
I used DK weight (8 ply) yarn — 800 g of YarnArt Creative, 100% cotton, 50 g ≈ 85 m / 1.8 oz ≈ 93 yds
Knitting needles: 3.75 mm (US 5)
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
If you want to match the sample size, use DK yarn with a similar gauge and texture.
However, you’re free to use any yarn you like! This project is highly adaptable — just choose suitable needles for your yarn and enjoy the process.
GAUGE
22 stitches × 32 rows = 10 × 10 cm (4″ × 4″) in sport 5-ply yarn
18 stitches × 26 rows = 10 × 10 cm (4″ × 4″) in DK or worsted 8-ply
16 stitches × 23 rows = 10 × 10 cm (4″ × 4″) in aran 10-ply yarn
WORK SEQUENCE
The project begins with a garter stitch border, followed by a central stockinette section where the motif is created by working reverse stockinette stitches according to the written instructions.
Follow the instructions line by line — each row will tell you exactly which stitches to knit and which to purl. This format is especially helpful for beginners and for those who enjoy marking their progress as they go.
